I was doing some collection development this AM and noticed something a little odd on the cover of the following book: Integrating Print and Digital Resources in Library Collections. It’s actually two things wrong with the same part of the picture. First correct comment wins, um, well hey, how about a copy of the book! I have a review copy here at my desk…

Ha! The “Mac” is black, and the apple is upside down… how funny!
Hey, Bingo David, nice work. Guess they were trying to be cool, eh? Are you interested in the book?
The older powerbooks (the black G3 “wallstreet” era) actually had the apple upside down – so it looked right when it was closed in front of you…
We still have one or two of these antiques laying around the Learning Commons. Great little machines, but went out of date when the Titanium ‘books were released…
That might just be an old PowerBook circa 1997. They were black back then. The Apple, as David suggests, is for sure up side down.
Aw crud, see what happens when we latecomers to the party show up? I even searched for images of the iBook and PowerBook to make sure, but I didn’t consider way older ones. Still very lame though that they chose that model to represent current students in a 2006 publication!
The wonders of clip art. Microsoft often (still) uses some of that same clip art in their stuff – especially funny when they don’t catch that (a) it’s a Mac, and (b) it’s like 10 years old – and still looks better than most Wintel hardware 🙂
The other thing is that her cell phone is really blocky, which makes sense given the probably age of the computer!
I think the little girl in the upper inset picture also has a Mac, but this one is white.
Hey now, that looks just like the cell phone I still use!! The little girl in the upper left is actually reading a pBook (gasp!) (much easier to see on the real book cover in my hand) – remember, it’s integrating print and digital resources… 😉
The girl in the upper inset is reading a conventional analog book, with pages ‘n stuff. And, my cell phone is pretty similar – doesn’t have a shoulder strap, though…
I scratched my head wondering what was “wrong” with the picture. The mac looks just like the first computer I owned. Hmm, maybe he means the girl’s eyes were airbrushed out… No he just didn’t recognize the archaic item. Now I really feel old.
Tina, I think I’m just a latecomer to the wonderful cult of Mac – don’t worry, I’ll bet I might even be older than you! Jeez girl, what are you worried about, you’re only 9 years old!!!
