Libraries and Online Video – Free Online Seminar with TechSoup
Techsoup.org is hosting the following videoconference on Wednesday, November 18: Wouldn’t it be great if complicated technology concepts were explained in a simple way that’s easy to understand? Imagine how something like this could assist you in training sessions for patrons or staff. Well look no further, Common Craft creates explanatory videos “In Plain English”…

1080p HD is coming to YouTube
I don’t think it will have any real implications for screencasting in the library world, but the YouTube blog reports that starting the week of November 16 they’ll support video resolution up to 1080p.

Dropbox – Random Tech Tip Thursday
I searched my archives and was surprised to learn I hadn't ever recommended Dropbox before. I was reminded when I received an email from them letting me know they had a new video from CommonCraft (the xxx in Plain English folks) explaining how it all works. In a nutshell, Dropbox is a cross-platform folder synchronization…

New site: Mac Screencasting
A new site all about Mac Screencasting launched today. Not a whole lot of content up yet, but what’s there is solid and professional; it’s going to be an excellent resource for all screencasters, and Mac screencasters in particular. I call BS…

The second is US Smartphone Ownership Share. What I found interesting about this one is how starkly it contrasts with what our statistics say…

Screencasting on the Mac – Screenflow 2 vs Camtasia:mac
Screenflow 2.0 came out earlier this week, so I now have production copies of it and Camtasia:mac. I hadn't planned to do a head-to-head, but the opportunity arose today, so I took it. Below you'll find copies of the same screencast I did to introduce Summon to our community. The first was done in Screenflow,…

SirsiDynix developing an iPhone app
This isn’t brand new news, but I was reminded of it today. SirsiDynix is holding a contest to name their new iPhone app (to be released sometime in 2010 – no other date given). From the contest page: SirsiDynix is excited to announce an iPhone application that will be available in 2010. The app will…

Internet Librarian days 2 and 3
Didn't take many notes on day three, so I'm combining two days in this post. Even so, it shouldn't be as long as the day one post. I took these notes for myself, not necessarily for the blog, so they're most definitely not session reports – hopefully some useful links to explore. I started the…
