Along the lines of yesterday’s post, how is this different from Trillian?  (again, I have almost no experience with IM…)

  1. I’ve only taken a quick look at eMessenger, but it differs from Trillian primarily because it’s web-based, whereas Trillian is installed client-side. It supports less applications (MSN, AOL and Yahoo right now), and Trillian has several more plugins, plus the rendevous feature (let’s you see ‘people nearby’ on your subnet, for example). I like that Trillian has great options for keeping logs, as well (which eMessenger does not). Finally, eMessenger has really annoying advertising. But could be a great option in a pinch, perhaps even more so for students/patrons/users getting in touch with us from labs or other places that don’t have the IM software installed . . .

  2. i really like e-messenger its the only way i can stay intouch with my friends at school.
