Link: Lorcan Dempsey’s weblog: The integrated library system that isn’t.
Increasingly, the library needs to bring its services to the user within their work- or learn-flow, and be seen to be adding value to the collection of resources.
Oh that’s kind of neat – I just realized that if I highlight some text on the page, and then hit the bookmarklet to post to my blog here, the text that I highlighted is automatically inserted in the post (see above). So the reason I hightlighted that section should be obvious to readers of this blog. The rest of Lorcan’s post is really well thought-out too. The subject of the post deals with integrated library systems, but of course almost every component of an ILS impacts on the distance student in one way or another. But mostly I really liked the quote I captured above.
