Two more candidates for Screencasting on the Mac

Still don’t yet have a way to test these myself, but here are two more candidates for screencasting on the Mac:
Screenography — Major Pro: has the ability to output directly to Flash. Con: does not record audio (they say they’re working on it).  $39.95 US (maybe regularly $49.95 US)

Screenography is an extremely easy program to capture your screen to various image, movie and Flash formats. Very useful for creating tutorials, training videos/CDs and demonstrations.

VisualHub — Major Pro: has the ability to convert pretty much anything into Flash.  $23.32 US

I notice Vertical Moon, the maker of Screenography, also has a product called Video 2 SWF that, well, converts video to SWF.

So the best/ most cost effective combo right now may be iShowU (see D’Arcy’s comment) to record initially, and VisualHub to convert to Flash?  $20 for iShowU and $23.32 for VisualHub is cheaper than any of the major Windows products out there…  Anyone want to give the combo a try and report back?

  1. Screenography temporarily hosed my system. Quad G5 with 2 gigs of ram was brought to its knees until I gave it the three-finger-salute…

  2. Well that doesn’t sound good, sorry about that D’Arcy!
